Why Reporting Matters

Reporting what we see on the water:

  • PROTECTS MARINE LIFE Help identify high-risk areas to minimize harm to whales and other marine species
  • IMPROVES CREW SAFETY Reporting supports safer sailing by reducing risks to other crews and vessels
  • RAISES AWARENESS TO FIND SOLUTIONS Help highlight the true scale of collisions, often underreported

Reporting is confidential, and data is anonymized

The results of this confidential survey are compiled in the Marine Strike Log, a global dataset of incidents between sailing vessels and marine life. Where possible, data not already in the public domain is anonymized.

Authorized end-users may request access to an anonymized dataset under strict data sharing criteria for scientific and collision mitigation purposes only.
